Sille Luiga (Sile Luik)
I was born in Haapsalu, Estonia in 1994, currently based in Tallinn.
As an artist, I am interested in what is ambivalent and absurd about our time. I often use ordinary, sometimes what are considered to be banal, materials for creating conceptually loaded modern jewelry.
Contemporary jewelry and objects combine many different creative practises. There is a space for mistakes and surprises as I craft my pieces. When a piece is handmade, the marks left from the process I treasure. I always create emotionally and I try to express my ideas honestly using materials and techniques chosen because of the concept of the piece. There is a gap between our body, mind, and the reality of the world. Art can help one to overcome these gaps. I enjoy what I do!
